Actress Brittany Murphy died this morning of cardiac arrest after being rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Brittany Murphy's death was confirmed by a Cedar Sinai spokeswoman. 

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devon Gale said emergency services were called to the house Brittany Murphy shared with her screenwriter husband Simon Monjack in Los Angeles at 8am local time.

Upon arrival to the house paramedics determined that Brittany Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR to Brittany Murphy.

Paramedics continued mouth-to-mouth as they sped to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, several miles away from Brfittany Murphy's home.

Despite multiple attempts, Brittany Murphy could not be revived. Brittany Murphy was pronounced dead at 10.04am at Cedar Sinai according to Sally Stewart of Cedar Sinai.

Brittany Murphy Death Caused by Drug Overdose?

According to reports, Brittany Murphy's mother Sharon Murphy discovered her daughter unconscious in the shower.

Several sites and past rumors have been hinting that Brittany Murphy's death is tied to a drug overdose. Brittany Murphy has denied drug use in the past. However, heart attacks are not very common at age 32, although they are possible, espceially in those with congenital heart defects. At this time there is no proof thst Brittany Murphy's death was caused by a drug ovewrdose.
